Welcome to my learning logs where I reflect after every consultation with my GL lecturer
Learning Log 1

Reflection :
I refine and finalise what I want to do for my GL project, understanding what I need to do and start to research in-depth details of Chinese Typography.
I got to discover that there are specific types of Chinese Typography like SongTi, Kai Ti, HeiTi and more. It was out of what I expected it to be. As I thought Chinese Typography has only sans serifs, serifs and calligraphy only. I also found out that there are many different ways to portray Chinese Typefaces despite having a different style from English.
There are more insights and research I did.

Learning Log 2

Reflection :
In this session, I researched more on the different plays of Chinese Typography through 小红书 (Xiao Hong Shu a Chinese App) and Pinterest to find examples. It helps me greatly to gain inspiration for the posters I want to do. I also planned to visit the Singapore Chinese Cultural Museum to find out more if they played with any Chinese Typography or designs. I managed to go to Outram Park to explore the use of Chinese Typography in our daily lives, like on the streets, signage, and brand logo. brands names, etc. Later on, I visit the Singapore Chinese Cultural Museum, however, it was not what I expect it to be. I thought there would be more Chinese Typography used however, they had their own illustration and own style with very less play with Chinese Typefaces. The font used is a handwritten font for both their English and Chinese words. Although it was not what I expect it to be, I still learn a lot about Chinese Culture through the museum and understand Singapore Chinese Culture through their interactive tags. I also managed to do more posters, two of it is learnt from XiaoHongShu (小红书) which I find very interesting to do. It is a design and effect I have never learned before during any of my curricula. I like this process of being to explore something I am interested in and trying it out on my own.
Learning Log 3

Reflection :
I started on my e-portfolio on Wix.com. I heard how good Wix is and it is simple for people. However, when I just started, I was so confused about the interface and I asked my friend to help me when navigating the site. From Communication Design, I learnt to make websites through Adobe XD where I have more autonomy in my design and freedom in navigating and placing my sections from scratch. While for Wix, there is already a fixed template and system in Wix which made me struggle when navigating and placing my information and design on the site. Through more explorations and some guidance from my friend, I managed to navigate and design it. I also added my works and added some descriptions to allow viewers to understand what I am doing.
Learning Log 4

Reflection :
Final refinement of my e-portfolio, understanding from a first-time viewer perspective if people could understand what my website is all about and what the images and posters mean. I used and explored different effects on Adobe Illustrators, Photoshop and Procreate. Despite feeling bounded by perimeters, like Wix, as I did not learn and use this site before, and have always used Adobe XD to create a website from scratch. This made me feel uncomfortable but I overcame this by seeking help from my friend who used this website and Googled some tutorials on how to navigate which help aid my learning drastically. Overall, I feel that I learnt a lot through this module and stepped out of my comfort zone. I believed that these skills from using Wix, and Photoshop effects and learning to overcome challenges that are not learnt in class can help me in my future.
